Easter Monday

Easter Monday, known as *Velikonoční pondělí* in Czechia, is a lively and traditional holiday celebrated the day after Easter Sunday. It is a day filled with unique customs, particularly involving playful rituals and folklore. One of the most well-known traditions is the *pomlázka*, where men and boys braid willow branches into whips and playfully "whip" women and girls on the legs. This act is believed to bring health, youth, and fertility for the coming year. In return, women often give decorated eggs, ribbons, or treats to the men. Families also gather for festive meals, and Easter markets featuring handmade crafts and traditional foods are common. Easter Monday is a public holiday in Czechia, allowing people to enjoy the springtime festivities with family and friends.
