Maundy Thursday, known as *Jueves Santo* in Costa Rica, is a significant religious observance during Holy Week (*Semana Santa*). It commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples and is marked by solemn religious ceremonies and traditions. In Costa Rica, a predominantly Catholic country, this day is a public holiday, and many businesses and schools close to allow people to participate in religious activities. Key observances include attending Mass, where the washing of the feet ceremony is reenacted, symbolizing humility and service.
