Epiphany

Epiphany, known as *Día de los Reyes Magos* or *Día de Reyes*, is celebrated in Colombia on January 6th, marking the end of the Christmas season. This Christian holiday commemorates the visit of the Three Wise Men (Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar) to the baby Jesus, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. In Colombia, the day is celebrated with religious services, family gatherings, and festive traditions. Children often leave their shoes out the night before, hoping the Three Kings will leave small gifts or treats. Families also enjoy *Roscón de Reyes*, a sweet bread ring decorated with candied fruits, symbolizing the crowns of the Wise Men. In some regions, parades and reenactments of the biblical story are held, adding a cultural and communal dimension to the celebration. Epiphany is a time for reflection, gratitude, and sharing, deeply rooted in Colombian Catholic traditions.
